ISO HD is the fastest absorbing protein that BPI sports has to offer. It's made of protein isolate and hydrolyzed whey protein, which are both types of protein that you are looking for in a post workout protein. How does it hold up to the rest of the post workout proteins out there?? Let me tell you!
The biggest pro out of all of them is the fact of how cheap you can get this protein for. Usually whey isolate protein powders are very expensive as far as protein goes but you can get this protein for less than a dollar a serving, which is incredible. This is definitely a great protein when it comes to cost efficiency, especially if you're just starting out and are not looking to drop major dough on supplements.
Another big plus is the taste. I ordered the S'mores flavor. Now I'm not going to lie to you, it does not taste exactly like a s'mores. It's pretty close but it is not like biting into one right by the campfire. It still does taste very good though. It's enjoyable to drink after a tough workout.
It also does not react badly with my stomach. A lot of proteins out there make my stomach upset or cause me to have more gas than I'd like to admit but that's not a concern with this protein. I feel great all day after drinking it especially because I drink it around 7 am every day.
Overall there are a lot of upsides to this protein but do they offset the downsides to it??
It does not have too many flaws but there are a couple of things that worry me. The first one being how cheap it is. Now I know I put that in the pro list but it's also a con. I tend to believe you get what you pay for and I'm a little skeptical when I see a protein selling for quite a bit less than all the others out there. Are they cutting corners? Putting everything in there they say they are? Why is the price so low? It could very well be that they just know how to produce it at a cheaper price, and if that's the case then great it's a win win for you and them.
One other flaw I have experienced is the texture of the actual shake. It mixes really well and there's never any clumps but the problem is it has a very chalky texture. I'm not a huge fan of it and it's pretty annoying. Is it enough to make me throw it out? No. I'm still going to use it and I enjoy it for the most part but it's not the best.
Overall ISO HD is a good protein at a remarkable price. It's not the best protein out there but it is pretty great especially if you're looking to just save money or just starting out in the bodybuilding journey. I'd so go for it and buy it for yourself!
